2022 Honda Civic Hatchback the year before for almost a decade before, we were not satisfied with the design and quality of the Civic. But Honda got this latest 10th generation Civic and, for now, is content to polish it.
For 2022, the Honda Civic hatchback gets a front and rear style update that includes a revised foglight housing and dark front trim accents.
Inside, there are new surface patterns that differ between trim levels and several new features on different trims (power-adjustable driver’s seat in EX trim, for example).
All Civics also get additional sound insulation – which should help quell some of the road noise complaints we are experiencing with the current model. And all but the basic LX model get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
Honda is also expanding the availability of the optional Civic six-speed manual transmission to include the Sport Touring trim.
While car manufacturers cannot get rid of old school sticks quickly, this move is a refreshing commitment from Honda to keep the relationship between the car and the driver strong.
All this adds to the strength of the other Honda Civic hatchback 2022 which includes fast acceleration, clear handling, and the flexibility of cargo transportation.
Although it’s still worth trying in competitions – including the sporty Mazda 3 and recently redesigned, the Subaru Impreza which beats the weather, and the Kia Forte which is full of value – the Honda Civic continues to set benchmarks.
2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Specs
2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport, The hatchback-style is a bit more sporty than the sedan, and the driving style supports it. Although the hatchback isn’t very attractive, it doesn’t disappoint.
This is a comfortable, quiet, and polite cruiser. It stands out because of the combination of agility and calmness, with nimble twists and a firm but never comfortable ride.
Most hatchback versions use a 174-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission.
In the topline Sport Touring trim, which I tested, the buyer gets an additional 6 hp and can choose CVT or six-speed manual transmission.
This hatchback also comes in an ultra-performance Type R trim that can accommodate four people and is powered by a 306-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
The New Honda Civic Hatchback 2022 is equipped with a CVT that distinguishes itself from the crowd. The transmission does not have the dull and unnatural taste of many CVTs on the market, providing stable power in smooth and predictable blocks.
The car feels slow only when the Eco mode is activated, which blunts the acceleration response to get fuel savings. (After testing it for a while, I avoid the Eco mode.)
Hatchbacks don’t bend when it comes to fuel economy. It is estimated that the EPA rating of 31/40/34 mpg city/highway / combined is about 2 mpg less than the Civic sedan with the same engine.
Corolla Hatchback has the same rating, which is 32/41/35 mpg, and other competitors have a much lower number: the two-wheel-drive Mazda3 with automatic transmission is rated 26/35/30 mpg, while all-wheel drive is the only Subaru Impreza rated 28/36/31 mpg with automatic transmission.
2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Design
Most of the cabin design and materials are forgotten, but the multimedia system stands out – for the better and the worse.
Honda gave the Civic’s Audio Display system a volume button (but still no tuning buttons!) For 2019, and that is a great addition to the touch screen – but now it’s time for more improvement.
The small screen is still responsive to touch, the menu structure is easy, and the connectivity of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is easy to use, but the graphics look old-fashioned and climate control needs to be changed.
Working with the system requires the use of touchscreen-based controls and physical buttons below the screen; it’s easier (and looks slimmer) if they are in one place. The tuning button is still on my wish list.
In the back, headroom and legroom are competitive; My 5-foot, 6-inch fits comfortably. The Civic hatch fits in with many other compact hatchbacks in the rear legroom and offers far more than the Toyota Corolla.

The back seat is also roomy enough for a child safety seat; both fit comfortably and are easy to access the lower Latch Civic anchor an upper tether anchor.

On the way home, cargo space abounds. The Hatchback Sport model offers 22.6 cubic feet of space – more than the Mazda3, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Corolla hatchbacks. (Although the registered luggage capacity of the Civic sedan is 15.1 cubic feet, the two specifications cannot be compared reliably due to differences in the way they are measured.)
With folded seats, total cargo space increased to 46.2 cubic feet, slightly less than the Mazda3 and Subaru Impreza; Toyota hasn’t released the maximum cargo dimensions of the Corolla hatchback.
The Civic is also impressive in terms of storing small items, with a large door tray and deep multi-tiered center console. There is also a large open storage area under the shifter.
2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Redesign
One of our favorite compact cars will soon be completely redesigned. The 2022 Honda Civic will almost certainly remain the roomy, fun-to-drive, and the practical little car we know and love, with a few improvements to keep it fresh. This is what we can see in the 11th generation Civic.
The new design will be more evolutionary than revolutionary, based on what we have seen in the latest photos of prototypes and patents posted on the Australian government’s intellectual property website.
Overall, expect a tame design compared to the overly stylish exteriors of the current model. The Civic will get a sleeker grille, long hood, and conventional-looking taillights in place of the old C-shaped unit.
Open the door and you will see a more modern cabin. The 2022 Honda Civic will have a larger 9-inch touchscreen and the latest version of Honda’s infotainment software.
For the first time, the Civic receives a fully digital instrument cluster. Also, look for an upgrade to the standard Honda Sensing safety package.
2022 Honda Civic Interior
Honda just released the new interior sketch of the Civic seen above, but that’s more than enough to see how radically different things are from the current model. Although the 10th generation Civic has only been on sale since the 2016 model year, the interior design is showing its age.
This moment – a moment, we should add, stuck in 2015 – its emphasis on sportiness and youth does not give the display much durability, especially when the newer Honda has gone in a different, cleaner direction.
It should come as no surprise, then, that the interior of the Civic prototype looks more like the next design iteration we saw in the Honda Accord and Honda Insight than an update of the current Civic.
In fact, the design looks more modern and sophisticated than one of those more expensive models, thanks to its cleanliness and simplicity.
You’ll see quite a bit of the previous two designs if you take a closer look, from the shape of the instrument cluster to the slimmer steering wheel and Accord’s three-dial climate control system. Beyond that, the Civic is heading in a new, more exciting direction.

The showstopper is a framed honeycomb element that runs right in the middle of the dashboard. Not only is it an unusual design statement, but also functional, incorporating and hiding air vents.
Doing so gives the dashboard light, clean feel without sacrificing visual interest over the altar of simplicity. Honda didn’t get rid of all the dashboard parts; it just puts a few into one more focal point of interest.
Splitting the honeycomb, the steering wheel is also visually slimmer, with thinner, more elegant spokes. Below it is a small, spacious space in front of the simple and functional center console.
Unlike some other Honda that has adopted push-button transmission control, the Civic retains the traditional shift lever on the console for the automatic transmission as the company needs the space for the manual shift offered on the hatchback body styles and Si and Type R performance models.
2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Interior
2022 Civic Hatchback, Smooth and airy, the Civic cabin combines practical design with first-class materials that make the interior one of the most enjoyable in its class.
Honda’s attention to detail can be seen in the overall quality of the civic building as well, where the panel gaps are all even and everything looks and feels properly put together.
This, along with the latest Civic sound insulation updates, keeps the cabin as calm as possible. Ergonomics are also right, with the cockpit intuitively arranged with all controls in the optimal range and driving position presented with the first step.
There are plenty of steering and seat adjustments offered at the front too; almost everyone will find the Civic accommodating, regardless of size and built.
There is seating for five passengers on the Civic hatch, and all five places offer enough space and comfort for adults to occupy.
Reportedly surprisingly roomy considering the outer dimensions of the Civic Hatch look standard for a compact class.
Entry and exit are easy through the large front door, although the sloping roofline backward will make the rear occupants slightly lower.

The headroom is just fine, and front and rear passengers get plenty of room to enjoy.
Adults over six feet may find the back of the cabin rather low, but no rival offers better, and the 36 inch rear legroom figure is truly generous.
From the driver’s sitting position, the extraordinary visibility is great and most of the line of sight is all clear; only thick C pillars make blind spots rather large. Profit.
The high-quality black cloth seat covers are standard in LX and Sport, while the LX is equipped with rudimentary polyurethane steering wheels, Sport is enhanced with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift buttons, and with a sportier aluminum foot pedal, it also gets geometric dash trim inserts exclusive.
The chairs on the EX are also covered with fabric but can be colored black or ivory, equipped with a special model-painted dashboard pattern.
Genuine black leather upholstery is standard on EX-L and Sport Touring, also available at Ivory as long as the CVT is equipped, and both have a black dashboard and aluminum pedals.
Available Fashion Accent Kit – Red for some trims which adds a red instrument panel and cabin accents.
2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Exterior
The Honda Civic Hatchback 2022 is launching into the new model year with a more gung-ho front display featuring a redesigned grille with an updated “wing” bar, lower fascia fixed with body-color bars in the fog lamp housing, and fainting.

The clearest touches are seen at the front where the projector’s halogen headlights on / off have been given a sporty black-out treatment and the fog lights place a new body-color bar.
At the rear, the rear roofline spoiler that fits the body color is now equipped with a lower fascia opening that gets a new body-color bar for a more sporty look.
Sport and Sport Touring are exclusively equipped with underbody spoilers and with dual exhaust outlets mounted in the middle, power-operated glass moonroofs are standard on the EX trim, and Sport Touring is the only trim that has an automatic feature. LED lights on / off.
LX is equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, EX and EX-L get 17-inch alloy wheels, and Sport and Sport Touring, 18-inch alloy wheels.
2022 Honda Civic Hatchback
So far Honda has not released details of the engine but promises the new Civic will offer more power and better fuel efficiency.
It makes sense that Honda will continue to offer the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine across the range.
That said, the engine will produce 174 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque as standard on the current Civic, while some versions of the Civic hatchback will produce a maximum increase of 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque.
It’s unclear whether the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine will survive the redesign. We didn’t anticipate a hybrid powertrain – which is why Honda has the Insight.
Honda must continue to offer the CVT. It is said that this type will not offer a manual transmission, except for the sporty Si model.
The hatchback will continue to offer line-your-own options. All-wheel drive will not be included anywhere in the product lineup.
So which body style will continue? Of course, we can count on the sedan. Unfortunately, the Civic Coupe is gone for good, with slow sales and customer preferences shifting to the blame. While the Civic Si is resting for the 2021 model year, Honda assures us we will return for 2022.
The Civic Hatchback will remain the top choice for buyers looking for robust performance and extra cargo space.
The Civic Type R is expected to continue to provide the latest sensations for those who like to drive. Rumor has it that the hot hatch will eventually become a hybrid, let’s look forward to it together.
In this case, Honda will certainly make the Civic 2022 available in various trim levels. This will likely be similar to the current lineup which consists of several: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring (Sport Touring) models.

2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring
The Slim Sport has the same engine but with less power (180 hp and either 177 lb-ft of torque with the available manual transmission or 162 lb-ft with the automatic CVT).
You also get more desirable features not available on the LX, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, larger wheels, and a leather-covered steering wheel. Sport also offers more technology, with a 7-inch touch screen and an upgraded audio system.
2022 Honda Civic Si
The 2022 Honda Civic Si Coupe is further enhanced. There are styling updates to the front and back. Now the LED light design is more conical. Also revised final-drive ratio to provide more responsive acceleration.
Also, the Honda Sensing is now standard equipment for the Civic Si. The unit is promised to reach dealerships on September 6 in global markets. Official prices start at the US $ 25,000, equivalent to Rp.350 million.
The appearance of the Civic Si Coupe gets a light revision. In addition to the lights, the under-bumper fog lamp now features a gloss black finish and a cross line following the body color. It also received a new LED fog light.

The engine is installed using a 1.5 liter DOHC turbo petrol engine. However, tuning is done to generate additional power. At a regular mechanical heart, the power is 190 PS.
Now it’s 208 PS at 5,700 rpm and a peak torque of 192 Nm at 2,100-5,000 rpm.
Power is mated via a 6-speed manual transmission. For performance, there is an update to the helical limited-slip differential.
Then a two-mode adjustable adaptive damping system. To increase the sensation of driving, the final-drive is made 6 percent shorter. It provides agile acceleration.
As a 2022 model, the Honda Sensing is embedded as standard equipment. The systems include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collaking Mitigation Braking System (CMBS ™), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Departure Mitigation (RDM). Also, all Honda Civic Si models receive an automatic high beam.
Equipped with a variety of standard active and passive safety features. You can find Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), multiple airbags with rollover sensors, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, and the latest generation of Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structures.
The Civic family was designed to hit the highest score in crash tests. Evidently, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave it 5 stars.
Then the award also came from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). They gave the title Top Safety Pick +.
2022 Honda Civic Color
2022 Civic Colors, There are a total of seven exterior colors available in the Civic Hatch lineup, but only Crystal Black and Sonic White colors are available overall.
For some reason, top-of-the-line Sports Tour trims in manual guise are available in one of only three colors, the smallest choice in the range specified for trim, which includes these colors along with Sonic Gray available for all trims others, except LX.

2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Engine and Performance
If you are a buyer looking for something a bit more sporty than a run-of-the-mill hatch, then the right Sport and Sport Touring model from the Civic Hatch is definitely what you want.
Sport is the optimal performance trim in this case because it is lighter than both and while dual-mode rowing shifters are standard in Sport Touring, they are available for Sport too, even if only when equipped with a CVT.
Both of these trims come standard with a six-speed manual gearbox that increases torque to 177 lb-ft, however, this is done at the expense of faster shift time.
The 1.5-liter turbo-four sends a Civic Hatch, regardless of what gearbox is used, from 0-60 mph in about seven seconds.
This might not be exciting in and of itself, but it’s fast for the class, and the Civic Si and Type R models are available for those who want greater potential.
While rivals like the Mazda 3 or Subaru Impreza offer an AWD alternatively, the Civic is a hatchback that is driven by the front wheels.
The entire Civic Hatchback is only run by a 1.5-liter turbo-four engine. In the LX, EX, and EX-L trims, the engine is set to produce an output of 174 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque, while in Sport and Sport Touring, the power figure is increased to 180 hp.

With manual gearboxes that are now standard in the Sport trim and Sport Touring, both benefit from 15 lb-ft of torque in torque as well, producing a total torque of 177 lb-ft, despite completing this dropping CVT. back to 162.
The Turbo-four works very well in the Civic Hatch because it gives enthusiastic responses from the lowest to the next.
Withdrawing from traffic is always fast and smooth when the turbo kicks down low, and almost without feeling so with minimal lag attacks.
In a typical turbo mode, this car experiences higher asthma in the rev range but is much happier than the 1.4T engine in the VW Golf.
With enough in-gear torque, overtaking and reaching highway speeds is a simple matter, especially when equipped with a manual gearbox.
The CVT is one of the better versions of its kind around, less raving, and more willing to let the engine out, but it still sucks up the excitement of driving from the Civic and robs the turbocharged sense of urgency at highway speed.
The six-speed manual on the other hand snicks between gears with speed, it feels great and is now finally available on top-level Sport Touring.

2022 Honda Civic Hatchback MPG
A front-wheel-drive, a low-speed turbocharged engine, and a CVT automatic gearbox make it an outstanding team with one goal – beating competitors when it comes to estimating gas mileage.
With this arrangement, the Honda Civic Hatch was assessed by the EPA to return the 31/40/34 mpg city/highway / combined gas mileage figures, although the Sport and Sport Touring models are slightly more fuel-efficient with 29/35/32 mpg numbers.
The same thanks, with the manual gearbox being played, returning a gas mileage figure of 29/37/32 mpg, which beat 28/37/31 mpg of the Toyota Corolla Hatch equipped with a manual, Corolla Hatch equipped with a CVT is slightly more economical than the Civic Hatch respectively, with EPA numbers 32/41/35 mpg.

2022 Honda Civic Models
The Honda Civic Hatchback 2022 is offered in five trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Sport Touring. Each trim is equipped with an expanded set of standard features, and there are no package options to complicate the purchasing process.
The LX starts with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (174 horsepower, 162 lb-ft of torque), continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), and front-wheel drive.
For the base model, the LX still packs a strong list of features, highlighted by automatic climate control, a 5-inch infotainment screen, Bluetooth, and a complete complement of Honda driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam, and automatic emergency braking. Some competitors offer similar safety features to their basic models.
The slim Sport has the same engine but with less power (180 hp and both 177 lb-ft of torque with available manual transmission or 162 lb-ft with automatic CVT).
You also get more desirable features not available on LX, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, larger wheels, and leather-wrapped steering wheels.
Sport also offers more technology, with a 7-inch touch screen and an improved audio system.
Stepping into the EX adds technological features such as LaneWatch (a small camera that displays the real-time blind-spot display of the passenger side when changing lanes) and comfort including sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, driver seat power, and adjustable satellite radio.
The EX-L expands on the EX offering with a few additions (auto-dimming rearview mirror, for example) but, especially, leather seats.
Sport Touring top-trim adds the finishing touches such as LED lights, power-adjustable front passenger seats, navigation, and premium 12-speaker audio system.
2022 Honda Civic Price
Prices haven’t been announced for the 2022 Honda Civic. But Honda says that won’t change much. We think it is likely that the price will slightly increase from the current model.
In this case, the new sedan will exceed $ 21,755, and the Si will exceed $ 26,155. The new Civic Hatchback should fetch around or above $ 22,955. Look for the new Civic to debut in late spring 2021.

Engine options for the Honda Civic Prototype 2022 are yet to be revealed – but the next-generation Honda Civic is expected to include a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which is expected to be available with either a Continuous Variable Transmission or a manual transmission.
