2022 Honda Accord Type R

Honda gave us a glimpse into the 11th generation Civic sedan as a prototype, ensuring that it will be available as a sedan, hatchback, Si, and Type R models. We are very pleased with the latter, not only because the current generation Type R is one.
Our favorite hot hatch but because, as the 2020 sedan prototype previewed, the new model will have a more mature look compared to the current model. more obnoxious, youthful appearance. And it must be stronger.

We expect fewer fake air vents, which is likely. One thing is for sure: this will be a welcome upgrade over the previous model, and maybe we really want to get seen behind the wheel.
The current generation car is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque which is sent to the front wheels via a standard six-speed manual transmission.
And that’s the only option. We’re hoping Honda will stick with the turbo-four but make a few tweaks to generate more power, and we wish it had a better soundtrack.
There were rumors of a hybrid all-wheel-drive powertrain, but we thought it was unlikely – at least when it launched. Honda confirmed the Type R, as well as the Si, will retain the three pedals, and the automaker has not ruled out a fast dual-clutch automatic transmission – something the Veloster N.
This will take evolution from the current car’s chassis, which means we will likely not see a control-arm front suspension like the new TLX, but rather an improved dual-axis strut front suspension.
The dimensions of the new car will not change much. Honda only extended the wheelbase of the 11th generation cars by a little over an inch, and the height and width did not change. The prototype is shown sitting on top of a Michelin Pilot Super Sports set, likely the new Si standard tires, while the Type R should get higher-performance rubber.
Judging from the prototype, the interior will be even more luxurious compared to the current car, which is decorated with faux carbon fiber, red trim, and other hard plastics. It will have a digital meter cluster along with a 9.0-inch central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless capabilities.
But while the dashboard may look slimmer, we still expect the faux carbon-fiber trim to remain in Type R. Honda adds a classic aluminum teardrop-shaped shifter to current cars for 2020, so please stay tuned.
The 2022 Honda Civic will arrive late next spring, and we could see the Type R at the end of the year or early 2022. Expect prices to go up just a little from the 2021 model’s starting price of $ 38,450, staying under $ 40,000.
