2025 Honda Odyssey is a minivan expected to undergo a model change in the coming year. This hints at a move that will bring parent movers up to date with newer competitors like the all-new Toyota Sienna, Kia Carnival, and the recently revised Chrysler Pacifica.
The previous 2025 Honda Odyssey debuted about seven years ago and was revamped in 2021. The 2025 Odyssey is refined and stylishly filled with excellent road presence, presence, and a van that’s genuinely worth driving- Odyssey driving- Odyssey remains a great choice.
In its eighth model year without a complete redesign, the Honda Odyssey may astonish by surviving and becoming a desirable alternative to a three-row SUV. Following a 2021 refresh, the 2025 Odyssey receives an additional update to maintain its competitiveness against the final gas-fueled minivans in the United States: the Toyota Sienna, Chrysler Pacifica, and Kia Carnival. The Odyssey 2025’s appearance is illustrated in the rendering above.
The design changes might give previous Odyssey buyers little reason to consider the new one. We expect the 2025 model to sport an updated grille and a restyled lower front fascia. On the sides, new wheel models may appear across the trim range.
The latest technology is part of the Odyssey 2025 package, and we expect Honda to advance the Honda Sensing driver assistance equipment and interior screens.
2025 Honda Odyssey Reviews
Although minivans may require a more relaxed and refined design, they are among the most practical family vehicles. For instance, the Honda Odyssey 2025 comfortably accommodates the entire family and their luggage. This carrier is equipped with contemporary technology and safety features to guarantee that your family is in good hands.
It may not look like a fun vehicle, but overall, the Odyssey offers a pleasant ride and has little to complain about. Honda announced in early 2024 that styling and technology updates would be coming to the Odyssey, and we expect them to arrive for the 2025 model year.
In addition to the Odyssey’s ample cabin space for passengers and luggage, the large sliding doors make loading and unloading much more accessible. Honda authorities equipped the Odyssey with an attractive second-row seat that allows you to slide and move various parts of the second-row seat to various comfortable configurations in the cabin.
There is even a cabin intercom system. A microphone picks up your voice and sends it to the rear via the rear entertainment system speakers or headset. You don’t have to yell or look back to attract attention.
The 2025 Honda Odyssey may be the exception that proves irrelevant when employing the terms “minivan” and “fun” in the same sentence. Even when the cabin is crowded with occupants, the V6 engine provides sufficient power for overtaking and overtaking requirements. During our test, the Odyssey Elite achieved an average acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds, typical for a V6-powered minivan.
Precise steering, stable braking, and handling make the Odyssey perform confidently on highways and narrow roads. Is the Odyssey sporty? Not really. However, it is a very comfortable and fun car to drive. Everything feels cohesive.
The smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission discreetly selects the right gear for the situation. The standard steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters are great if you want to shift gears yourself.
If we had to criticize, the engine stop-start system (which shuts off the engine when stopped at a red light to save fuel) is a little less than perfect, but it can be turned off.
- The configurable second-row seats are handy
- Packed with safety features and modern technology
- A powerful V6 engine and stable handling make it fun to drive
- Updated styling and tech features
2025 Honda Odyssey Interior
We saw the look of the next-generation Odyssey when rendered using a mix of styling elements from the latest Accord, Pilot, and Civic; we believe the 2025 Odyssey will appear classier and more muted than the rather crowded current model. The styling of the Honda Accord pulls off a similar design simplification, and we think Honda will keep the more brutal touch for the next Ridgeline SUV and truck, meaning the minivan will still look more like a car.
The design features slim headlights flanking a hexagonal grille, full-width taillights, minimalist details, and more refined sides. The current Odyssey’s lightning bolt side graphics will be muted, though we suspect the drooping window line will remain a distinctive feature; it graced the previous two Odysseys, and there are only a few ways to skin a boxy minivan.
Inside design: A cluster of digital gauges and a large center touchscreen are mounted on a clean dashboard accentuated by an elegant full-width air vent motif. This design was launched on the 2022 Honda Civic before spreading to the HR-V, CR-V (pictured above), Accord, and new Pilot.
This interior presence impresses with its aesthetic appeal and is exceedingly functional in each vehicle it occupies. The addition of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Google Built-In (in the top trim), is also welcomed, given the current Odyssey’s somewhat cumbersome and button-filled dashboard. Honda’s CabinTalk in-car intercom and CabinWatch video monitoring system are designed to enable you to monitor your children in the rear and issue commands.
Additionally, there’s a speculative chance Honda is bringing back the Magic folding seats from the defunct Fit hatchback to replace the Odyssey’s current Magic Slide second-row seats, which don’t fold into the floor like Chrysler’s Stow ‘n Go units (and therefore must be folded and removed entirely if you want to use your Honda to haul large items).
A more versatile second-row seat is our only wish-list item for the new Odyssey. However, the old van seat makes up for its configuration shortcomings by being a very comfortable, moveable side.
Comfort
The Odyssey’s front seats are ideal for covering lengthy distances on long trips. The seats in the second row are appropriate for both infants and adults. However, despite the limited legroom, two adults can remain in the third row for shorter distances. The 19-inch wheels of our Odyssey Elite may offer a more firm ride than the smaller wheel options, as smaller wheels are associated with more absorbent tire sidewalls. However, in general, Honda can rapidly absorb significant impact.
Wind and road noise are not intrusive in the Odyssey. Additionally, the accessible cabin communications system is exceptional. The microphone detects your voice and transmits it to the rear of the vehicle via the rear entertainment system headset or the speakers. You can now say, “Stop touching your sister!” without having to turn your head and exclaim it.
The Odyssey will simplify your life, and a minivan will do the same. In terms of facilitating the entry and exit of children, sliding rear doors will always surpass conventional crossover SUV doors. Due to their elevated height, sliding into the first two rows of seats is effortless. The second row of seats can be reclined and slid sideways with minimal effort, facilitating access to the third row.
Numerous adjustments are available for the driver’s seat and steering column, making establishing a comfortable driving position effortless. Nevertheless, individuals with lengthier legs may require additional thigh support from the lower cushion. Our primary issue is the subpar visibility in the front and over the shoulder. The mirrors and roof pillars of the windshield are substantial. The rearward camera is also satisfactory; however, a surround-view camera would be preferable. Honda does not provide one.
Tech
Honda’s infotainment system has large virtual buttons and quick response. You can customize the layout of the virtual buttons on the screen. However, the Garmin-based graphics and navigation menu seem dated compared to newer systems. Some operations, including voice commands, are a bit difficult to understand. We preferred to use the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps during our tests.
Technology in the Odyssey sometimes works and sometimes fails. The rear cabin camera monitor (in place of the rearview mirror) and cabin intercom are helpful. However, some advanced driver aids, such as adaptive cruise control, respond slowly and are prone to false positive results, so we avoid using them.
Storage
Very few vehicles can be considered the finest minivans in this location. The storage containers behind the third row are sufficiently deep and appropriate for grocery bags. The third-row seats are manually raised and lowered, necessitating some effort; however, the harness handle system is relatively straightforward. The Odyssey boasts an impressive 144.9 cubic feet of maximal storage capacity when the third-row seat is lowered and the second-row seats are removed. The second-row seats are cumbersome and challenging to remove; however, the side-to-side adjustment is a valuable stowage solution if an utterly flat floor is not required.
The Odyssey establishes the industry standard for car seat installation. The lower car seat anchors are easily accessible, and booster-age children will also find it effortless to fasten their belts.

2025 Honda Odyssey Hybrid
The change is a boost. Honda’s hybrid system is relatively new compared to the systems of other car manufacturers, especially Toyota. Instead of blending power from the motor and gas engine in a planetary-type continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), as Toyota does, Honda uses a sizeable electric drive motor to handle most acceleration duties.
The gas engine runs in the background, essentially, as a generator (the second motor is a motor/generator, which is spun by the engine to drive the main electric drive motor), at least until higher speeds, when it can be connected to the driveline, delivering power to the wheels via a single-speed transmission. This results in a low-torque, low-speed driving sensation similar to an EV, albeit with the engine running quietly simultaneously, compared to a gas engine assisted by an electric motor.
Competition from the rapid hybridization of the minivan segment, such as the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (genuinely a plug-in hybrid capable of approximately 30 miles of electric-only driving), is the reason for this. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid was previously the sole gas-electric-powered van available for purchase. Toyota’s most recent Sienna is exclusively hybrid (although no plug-in option). The recently introduced Kia Carnival 2025 has also transitioned to a hybrid powertrain.
With the current van’s 3.5-liter V-6 switching? Look for the same 2.0-liter I-4 engine and dual-motor hybrid system from the Accord Hybrid, CR-V Hybrid, and, in detuned form, the 2025 Civic sedan and Sport Hybrid hatchback. The hybrid powertrain produces 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque in its most significant form.
The horsepower figure is well below the current Odyssey’s 280 horses, but the torque figure is close to the V-6’s 262 lb-ft, which also peaks at 4,700 rpm.
In addition, we see that the Odyssey hybrid’s chances/prospects have been a topic of speculation and discussion among automotive enthusiasts and industry analysts. While Honda has not officially confirmed the existence of the 2025 Odyssey e: HEV, several factors point to the possibility:
- Industry Trends: The automotive industry has been rapidly transitioning to electrification and hybrid technology, with many manufacturers offering hybrid or all-electric versions of their popular models. The Odyssey, as Honda’s flagship product, could be a prime candidate for a hybrid variant.
- Honda’s Dedication to Electrification: Honda has publicly declared its intention to broaden its selection of hybrid and electric vehicles in the years ahead. The company’s broader sustainability objectives and initiatives to mitigate environmental impact would be in harmony with introducing a hybrid Odyssey.
- Competitive Landscape: Some of the Odyssey’s key competitors, such as the Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Pacifica, already offer hybrid versions. Honda may need to respond with a hybrid Odyssey to maintain its market share and attract environmentally conscious consumers.
- Potential Benefits: The Odyssey hybrid could offer a range of benefits, including improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and a better driving experience. These attributes could make the Odyssey more attractive to families looking for a practical, eco-friendly, technologically advanced minivan.
2025 Honda Odyssey e: HEV
As the automotive industry continues to evolve, the wait for the 2025 Honda Odyssey is growing. This iconic minivan has long been a family favorite, and this upcoming model promises to take the Odyssey experience to the next level. Let’s explore the potential changes and advancements that may come with the Honda Odyssey 2025, focusing on the possible hybrid variant, the Odyssey e: HEV.
The Honda Odyssey model has been a mainstay in the minivan market for decades, and each generation brings a unique set of features and refinements. The 2025 Odyssey e: HEV, if fully realized, would be the latest iteration of this beloved family vehicle.
- Design and Style: The Odyssey e:HEV 2025 is expected to build on the sleek and modern aesthetic of the current model while potentially incorporating more aerodynamic elements and a refined and sophisticated look.
- Powertrain and Performance: The big question is whether the 2025 Odyssey will feature a hybrid powertrain. This would significantly change from traditional internal combustion engine models, offering improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
- Interior and Technology: The 2025 Odyssey e:HEV will likely continue the brand’s tradition of a spacious and versatile interior, with the potential for enhanced connectivity, infotainment, and advanced safety features.
- Fuel Efficiency and Environmental Impact: If the Odyssey 2025 is equipped with a hybrid powertrain, it could substantially improve fuel economy and reduce carbon footprint compared to non-hybrid models.
2025 Honda Odyssey MPG
The EPA estimates that the Odyssey Elite, which we tested, gets 22 mpg in combined city/highway driving, which is the average for a minivan. On our real-world evaluation route, which mainly consisted of highway driving, we observed 21 mpg. This suggests that the Odyssey may perform worse compared to EPA estimates.
