Sedan and Coupe variants now come with a sports trim that slots between the base LX and the EX (the hatch has already offered a sports trim). Honda also upgraded the exterior design slightly with a remodeled inferior front fascia in the sedan and coupe. Touring sedans and coupes now come with 18-inch alloy wheels.
Although the Civic 2019 was not tested by the NHTSA and IIHS, the 2018 model received a five-star overall rating of the NHTSA (of a possible five stars). Si models for the model year 2018 are rated at 205 hp and 192 lb-ft. The most powerful Civic is the R type, which features a 2.0-liter Turbo-four with 306 hp and 295 lb-ft. The SI and Type R models come exclusively with a manual transmission.
