2024 Honda Odyssey Review
The Automotive News said the Odyssey 2024 would be a significant refresh with a mild hybrid system but didn’t redesign the platform until a few years later. This makes a lot of sense to me because:
- Honda doesn’t have a hybrid system with enough power for the Odyssey. A 3.5L V6 with a mild hybrid system should improve fuel economy by 10-15% without losing any power. Maybe if we’re lucky the combined EPA rating is 24mpg.
- The platform itself is not very old and there is nothing wrong with the underlying chassis, even the best in class.
There is no reason to expect AWD as there is no room for the driveshaft with the current chassis unless the spare tire is removed etc. I also heard from the sales manager that Honda Corporate said AWD wasn’t even a consideration at this point.
If they deliver a new interior, a different front, and rear, and a mild hybrid, it might be the minivan to beat again in the model year 2024 for those who care about performance and quality.

2024 Honda Odyssey Redesign
The Honda Odyssey is likely to be redesigned in 2024. However, Honda has yet to officially announce its next-generation Odyssey and initial reports have largely been made up of speculation.
Based on information from the industry publication Automotive News, a redesign of the Honda Odyssey will probably take place for the 2024 model year.
The Honda Odyssey is currently introduced for the 2018 model year and has only seen minor updates since then. While we think the prospects of a 2024 Odyssey redesign may only be based on the assumptions of a five-year Odyssey generation, this model could be a fresher option in the center of a shrinking minivan field.
Recently, Toyota changed the carriers of the Sienna family to hybrid-only vehicles. In the case of Chrysler Pacifica, buyers have a choice of gasoline engines or the choice of the industry’s first plug-in hybrid minivan (PHEV).
Meanwhile, the new Kia Carnival continues to be a high-end alternative with the latest technology.
For 2024, Honda has discontinued the Odyssey LX, resulting in a price increase of $38,635. While there’s a new Sport trim in the middle of the range, it’s equipped in the same way as the EX-L and features a gloss black grille, matching exterior trim, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Honda also includes free maintenance for 2 years.

2024 Honda Odyssey Interior
Seating for eight is standard in the Odyssey 2024 minivan. And only one of them has to be a little less extravagant with their drinks, as there are 15 cupholders.
Plenty of space in all three rows of seating. And between folding and sliding from multiple positions (back row folded to the floor), there should be enough versatility to carry people and/or cargo to please most buyers.
As with the rest of Honda’s portfolio, cabin materials are of decent quality, with excellent fit and finish. Just above the rearview mirror is a concave mirror for a quick inspection of rear passengers.
The sport-trim leather seating surfaces — on the front seats and the outboard second-row positions — are black, with red stitching. This color scheme also applies to the steering wheel. The title is also black.
The top two trims have the CabinWatch and CabinTalk rear seat monitors, where the driver’s voice is channeled through the rear seat entertainment system headphones (Touring trim) or rear headphones and speakers (Elite trim).
Infotainment and Connectivity
All Odysseys get an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system called Display Audio. The software allows customization of the menu layout and smartphone connectivity not only through Bluetooth, but also through the capabilities of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard on touring and elite is a back-seat entertainment system with a built-in streaming app.
2024 Honda Odyssey Exterior
Powerful sliding passenger doors on both sides are standard with every Odyssey 2024, another feature of concern for abused parents. And the powerful tailgate is present at the level of the second trim.
The new Sport trim is third, right in the middle of the range. It has many exterior details finished in gloss black, such as the grille, rearview mirror housing, B-pillar, rear pillar, headlight cover, and taillight trim.
The wheels are also finished in black. This is the first trim level in which 19-inch alloy wheels come standard. This brings up an aspect to keep in mind on the test drive — we prefer the smoother ride quality of the 18-inch wheel/tire combination on the bottom two trims.
The sport trim is available in Platinum White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, and Sonic Grey Pearl. This last color is also available in Touring and Elite.
2024 Honda Odyssey Engine
Fleet-footed, streamlined, and polished, the Odyssey is an uncompromising lover. The Odyssey changes direction sharply, and from behind the wheel, it is easy to forget that you are driving a three-row van. Direct steering and light power, but more feedback from the road will be welcome.
Riding enthusiasts won’t be happy—after all, it’s still a minivan—but the Odyssey is a well-ridable minivan, and its agility makes it competent in corners and easy to drive on narrow roads.
We tested the Elite and found that its mount didn’t match our long-range Pacifica, but the standard 19-inch alloy wheels could be one of the reasons.
The EX-L we drove with 18-inch wheels and looked more suited to the pockmarked Michigan road we drove every day. However, on most road surfaces, the Odyssey has comfortable driving features, and some passengers will complain.
Each 2024 Odyssey minivan is driven by a 3.5-liter V6 engine. There is no turbocharger or anything like that.
The output is more than enough, at 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. This applies only to the front wheels (all-wheel drive is not an option) through an efficient 10-speed automatic transmission.
Ordinary gasoline is refined. Cylinder deactivation contributes to fuel efficiency, where only three cylinders are used whenever possible. Plus an engine stop/restart function that can be turned off if desired.
The maximum crane rating for the 2024 Odyssey is 3, 500 pounds.
